Who is Josef Frank in Today’s Google Doodle?

June 4, 2015 by · 2 Comments

Who is Josef Frank? This is the most common question of Googlers today as they see that the Google Doodle presented in Google’s logo pertains to the 125th birthday of Josef Frank.

Josef Frank was perhaps considered as the father of architecture or interior design. The Google Doodle presented above was his famous “vegetable tree” architectural design present in some home furniture and decors.  He was especially known for his works at Svenskt Tenn design company. Before his stint at Svenskt Tenn, he first dealt with public housing and housing estates. In addition to his architectural works, he also created numerous designs for furniture, furnishings, fabrics, wallpaper and carpet.

Josef Frank was also instrumental in the propagation of artistic innovation in the early 20th century. Some of his architectural works include interior of the Museum of East Asian Art in Cologne in 1910, design of Viennese apartment buildings from 1921 to 1924, etc.

With Josef Frank’s creative mind, his architectural works will remain forever. Happy Birthday Josef Frank and many thanks for sharing your imaginative mind with your wonderful architectural designs.
