WEC Fight Results; Aldo Beats Faber
Featherweight champion and Brazilian phenomenon Jose Aldo unished Urijah Faber’s left leg for 25-brutal minutes in the evening’s main event, earning the striker a lopsided unanimous decision victory in front of the former king’s hometown of Sacramento.
The world featherweight champion from Brazil, who hasn’t lost in over four years, had ravaged his charismatic and courageous challenger with wicked kicks to the ribs and legs, and also repeatedly pounded The California Kid’s body with hard punches.
Before cruising in the final five minutes, Aldo pounded the left leg of former champion Faber repeatedly over four rounds to earn a unanimous decision at World Extreme Cagefighting’s show Saturday in Faber’s hometown of Sacramento. Two judges scored it 49-45; one had it 50-45.
“I’m always careful when I go in the ring, but what happened was that Urijah was doing a great job of covering things up and the only strike we kept landing was the leg kick, so I kept going for it hoping that he would open up.
“But everytime I went in there to do something else, he was covering himself up very well. You have to take your hats off to Urijah Faber. He came in with a very good strategy and that was to protect himself.”
“I really like Sacramento. This is where I made my debut and this is like a home away from home. I hope they will adopt me as one of their stars too.”
