No. 3 Boise State has established itself as a football powershouse in the last few years. Now they are trying to prove that they belong to the elite group of college football squads. They have set their sights on the national championship this year with the core of their team back this season along with Heisman trophy candidate quarterback Kellen Moore.
The Boise State Broncos opened their football season against the No. 10 Virginia Tech Hokies in what proved to be a treat to college football fans regardless of which side they were on.

The first quarter ended with a formidable Boise State lead 17-0 but Virginia Tech slowly inched closer until they took the lead at the end of the third quarter, 27-26. The Hokies extended their lead in the fourth quarter with a 34-yard field goal to take a 4-point lead at 30-26.
Kellen Moore proved that he truly is a Heisman candidate when he threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Austin Pettis to take the lead for good and win the game, 33-30. Moore finished with 3 touchdowns, completed 23 of 38 passes for 214 yards.
