Venus Williams Out of Wimbledon 2011, Defeated by Tsvetana Pironkova
This was not the time for victory for the Williams sister in tennis. Just like what her sister Serena Williams suffered, Venus Williams was also eliminated from Wimbledon 2011 after losing to Tsvetana Pironkova in Round 4 in the two straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Accordingly, this was the first time since 2006 that both of the Williams sisters were eliminated from Wimbledon and did not reach the quarterfinals.
The elimination of the two Williams sisters occurred almost simultaneously. Venus Williams lost from Tsvetana Pironkova and was eliminated from Wimbledon 2011, with less than two hours after her younger sister Serena lost from Marion Bartoli.
Venus Williams also suffered the same fate of injuries just like her sister Serena. She also had an injury and was forced to withdraw from the 2011 Australian Open during the second game of her third round match against Andrea Petkovic of Germany.
At the end of the game, Venus Williams insisted that her sister’s lost had not in anyway contributed to her own downfall saying: “My loss today was my own doing. I just didn’t put the ball in the court, simple as that.”Follow us on Twitter to get free up-to-date news via tweets from the World Correspondents, or you can subscribe to us by entering your e-mail below.
