US Open 2010 Grandslam Tennis Tournament Updates – Lots of happening in the US Open 2010, one of the most shocking perhaps is the collapse of No. 10 seed Victoria Azarenka during her match. It was indeed a frightening site on a tournament like this. The temperature on court had reached 100 degrees for the third day and some warns of possible heat stroke. Doctors though said that Azarenka’s collapse has nothing to do with the very warm weather.

On other updates, Venus Williams is glad to play singles in the US Open 2010 since her sister Serena is out due to an injury. Venus Williams who is third seed in the tournament defeated 179th-ranked qualifier Rebecca Marino of Canada 7-6 (3), 6-3 on Wednesday.

Dennis Brown defeated 92nd-ranked Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain 6-4, 7-6 (6), 7-5 in the opening round of the US Open 2010 and made Jamaican tennis history. It would be the first win by a Jamaican man since 1974 at a Grand Slam.

Dustin Brown posted a historic victory for Jamaican tennis Wednesday. He’s still holding out hope he’ll have the chance to represent his country some more.

Brown beat 92nd-ranked Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain 6-4, 7-6 (6), 7-5 in the opening round, the first win by a Jamaican man at a Grand Slam since 1974. He will face fourth-seeded Andy Murray for the second round.

Meanwhile, Melanie Oudin who astounded many Tennis fans by her performance in last years US Open had been eliminated early. She defeated two top seeds last year to advance to the quarterfinals but this time she had not been very lucky. Oudin was defeated by No. 29 seed and Ukraine’s Alona Bondarenko, 6-2, 7-5.

Andy Roddick, 2003 US Open champion had an upset lose as well to 44th-ranked Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (4). He had some discussion with the referee and offer some remarks about the referees call but he eventually lost to a lower ranked opponent.

Riddick was not the only casualty of the upset as he was joined by other top seeds like No. 15 Ivan Ljubicic who was defeated by 18-year-old American qualifier Ryan Harrison’s 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 victory, and Wimbledon runner-up and No. 7-seeded Tomas Berdych bows to Michael Llodra, 7-6 (3), 6-4, 6-4.

Other winner for the US Open 2010 Grand Slam Tennis Tournament includes No. 4-seeded Andy Murray, the 2008 runner-up; No. 12 Mikhail Youzhny; No. 14 Nicolas Almagro; No. 18 John Isner, best known for his all-sorts-of-records-smashing Wimbledon marathon victory that ended 70-68 in the fifth set; and No. 20 Sam Querrey, who beat NCAA singles champion Bradley Klahn of Stanford 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in an all-American matchup.
