UFC 118: Frankie Edgar vs. B J Penn Analysis
The Ultimate Fighting Championship brings UFC to Boston for the first time with UFC 118 on Saturday at the TD Garden. The main event features a rematch between UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn who is out to reclaim the crown he lost to Edgar at UFC 112.
Penn is favored to win back the title by coming into the fight more motivated than before. In their first meeting at UFC 112, Penn was favored to win against Edgar as he was thought to be unbeatable at lightweight. Frankie Edgar scored an upset unanimous decision win with better striking and at the same time using his quickness to stay away from Penn’s range.
While Penn is expected to come back stronger, there is no denying the fact that current champion Frankie Edgar has been improving every game. He has not received the due respect as a champion but his 12-1 record (7-1 at UFC) is quite impressive.
Penn is touted as the best UFC lightweight champion and Kenny Florian one of the lightweight greats who has not won the belt. Frankie Edgar deserves to be one of the lightweight greats too and he can validate this with another win over Penn on Saturday.Follow us on Twitter to get free up-to-date news via tweets from the World Correspondents, or you can subscribe to us by entering your e-mail below.
