A few hours from now, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar faces UFC interim heavyweight champion at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. What makes this an interesting matchup is that both fighters have been dominating their opponents one after the other. Carwin is unbeaten at 12-0, all within the first round. Lesnar has a 4-1 record, the only loss courtesy of Frank Mir’s kneebar submission win.
Everyone is eager to see two athletic and talented heavyweights in this highly anticipated match. From a technical standpoint, we may not expect a submission win from either fighter. What we can be certain of is that this match will not go the distance.
So who will be the next UFC heavyweight champion? Will it still be Lesnar imposing his ground and pound game on Carwin? Will his freakish strength and speed be enough to dominate or at least neutralize Carwin’s one-punch knockout power? This will also put Lesnar’s chin to the test as he has never faced anyone with such knockout power like Carwin. Both training camps claim that their fighters even got better. I pick Carwin… by knockout.
All these questions will remain unanswered until the octagon gate closes on these two gladiators.
