The Weekend’s Box Office Results

For busy-bees like me, I’m sure the weekend was not even enough to squeeze in every chore that needs to be done nor is it enough to keep abreast with all that is happening in the world o Hollywood movies.

So for those interested to know how the newest theater openers did this past weekend, here is a complete look at the weekend’s top-grossing films, per Friday-Sunday estimates compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

  1. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, $19 million
  2. Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, $16.3 million
  3. The Town, $16 million
  4. Easy A, $10.7 million
  5. You Again, $8.3 million
  6. Devil, $6.5 million
  7. Resident Evil: Afterlife, $4.9 million
  8. Alpha and Omega, $4.7 million
  9. Takers, $1.7 million
  10. Inception, $1.2 million

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is of course starring Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf. It seems to be a good weekend for Douglas whose throat cancer is said to be responding positively to the chemo and radiation treatments, but more on that in another article.

Weekend Box-Office Results

The numbers are in and the 10 weekend top grossing films have been listed, and per E! Online they are:

  1. The American, $13 milion
  2. Takers, $11.5 million
  3. Machete, $11.3 million
  4. The Last Exorcism, $7.6 million
  5. Going the Distance, $6.9 million
  6. The Expendables, $6.6 million
  7. The Other Guys, $5.4 million
  8. Eat Pray Love, $4.9 million
  9. Inception, $4.5 million
  10. Nanny McPhee Returns, $3.6 million

Of the ten, I would personally want to see The Expendables (I’m a fan of Jason Statham), Eat Pray Love (because I have the book – and have not been able to read it since I bought it more than a year ago ), Nanny McPhee Returns ( I saw the first one and loved it. I think this one will also be worth watching with my kid).

I have come across very good reviews for Machete, which as Lindsay Lohan herself attested via Twitter, is a Danny Trejo movie, so I might just add that to my list of must-see movies.
