Four Politicians from United Kingdom faced charges

In the recent news from BBC, MPs Elliot Morley, Jim Devine, David Chaytor and Lord Hanningfield will be charged under the Theft Act. Director of Public Prosecutions Keir Starmer said that 3 Labour MPs and one Tory peer will face criminal charges over their expenses.

All of them have said they denied any charges and would defend their positions robustly. Revelations about MPs’ expenses emerged in May last year with the police going on to investigate a handful of cases.

Mr Starmer said there was “insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of a conviction” in the case of Labour peer Lord Clarke but said a sixth case remains under police investigation.

Former minister Elliot Morley, MP for Scunthorpe, will face two charges in relation to a total of £30,000 of mortgage interest claims on a property in Winterton, Lincolnshire between 2004 and 2007.

Paul White – the Conservative peer Lord Hanningfield – is accused of “dishonestly” submitting claims “for expenses to which he knew he was not entitled” – including overnight stays in London.

He denies the charges and says he will defend himself against them adding: “All the claims I have ever made were made in good faith. I have never claimed more in expenses than I have spent in the course of my duties.”

More news about these will be posted on our next update. So stay tuned!

Britain Holds The Entry Of Pastor Terry Jones

Britain Holds The Entry Of Pastor Terry Jones – The pastor of Dove World Outreach Center, Pastor Terry Jones, has been denied from his entry to Britain.

The Florida pastor said last year that he was praying about whether to burn Qurans to protest the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

According to the statement released by a Home Office spokesperson: “The government opposes extremism in all its forms which is why we have excluded Pastor Terry Jones from the UK. Numerous comments made by Pastor Jones are evidence of his unacceptable behavior.”

However, Pastor Jones gave his opinion in a telephone interview: “Just as a human being, I believe it is restrictive, against my right to travel, against my right to my opinion, to express my opinion, against basic principles of freedom of religion and freedom of speech.”

The US controversial pastor had planned to go to Britain on February 9 and to spend a week to 10 days there with his church group. He has also been invited to speak at several rallies in England and also do some book signing.

Terry Jones is the pastor of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, threatened last September to burn the Holy Book of Islam, the Quran. But he changed his mind after his proposal attracted sharp criticism from Muslim around the world as well as from U.S. officials.

The pastor has written a book, “Islam Is of the Devil”, which ranked at number 960,762 on Amazon.com.

Druidry recognized as religion in the United Kingdom

The government of UK received an applause from the Hindus around the world for giving official recognition to Druidry as a religion. This is known to be one of the oldest religions of the isles.

Rajan Zed, Hindu statesman , said that all religions were different ways to relate to the Divine, different responses to the Reality and were a positive sign of God’s generosity.

Zed added that a more inclusive understanding of religion was needed and we should learn to live together with mutual loyalty despite our seriously different faiths. He urged world religious leaders to leave behind selfish motives and work together for greater ideals.

Rajan Zed argued that recognition for Druidry should have come much earlier as Druidry, one of the earliest known spiritual traditions of United Kingdom, had been reportedly practiced in the area for thousands of years, much before the arrival of other religions.

The decision by Charity Commission for England and Wales means that Druidry will enjoy the status of a genuine faith. Board Members were satisfied that “there is sufficient belief in a supreme being or entity to constitute a religion”.

Consideration of the various characteristics of a religion by the Commission include: belief in a supreme being or entity; worship of, reverence for or veneration of the supreme being or entity; cogency, cohesion, seriousness and importance in the belief system; an identifiable positive, beneficial, moral or ethical framework promoted by the belief system.

The Charity Commission registers and regulates charities in England and Wales. Dame Suzi Leather is Chair of its Board.

Definition and practice of Druidry as given in registration application includes: Druidry was the native spiritual tradition of the peoples who inhabited the islands of Britain and Ireland, spreading through much of Europe. As an ancient pagan religion, Druidry is based on the reverential, sacred and honourable relationship between the people and the land. Druidic practice is based on honour for the ancestors. And lastly, All life is deemed to be unconditionally sacred.

UK’s Orange and T-Mobile Combine Powers

This merging has been the latest news which has been making the users of Orange and T-Mobile happy. Both networks will have 30 million users if combined. Initially, the merging wold be available for text messages and voice calls as of this time. The merging of these two big network would then make them the biggest provider in UK surpassing Telefonica’s O2, that comprises at about 37% of the mobile market.

As what has been posted in BBC, Orange and T-Mobile’s deal which will be due to be signed by November – would “bring substantial benefits to UK customers”, and promised expanded network coverage, better network quality and improved customer services. In this merging, T-Mobile would be the one to gain the most advantage as it has been labeled as an underperforming network outside of England.

The clients of both networks can have their free roaming service by just registering and eventually their phone can now automatically hop between the networks when it loses signal. By next year, Everything Everywhere – the company that runs Orange and T-Mobile in the UK – said that phones would automatically switch to whichever of the two networks has the strongest signal mid-call.

As of now, only 2G signal are being utilized but eventually 3G services would be catered thus widening the scope that its users are having.
