Tiger Woods To Play In US Ryder Cup Team

Tiger Woods has been just a shell of himself since news on his extramarital affairs went public. It has obviously affected his game that he has not won any major this year. Things may change after his divorce settlement. He has started hitting the ball well again although his putting needs more consistency.

The wold number one Woods did not qualify to the US Ryder Cup team but he has shown improvements lately that team captain Corey Pavin decided to give Woods one of four wild card picks to the team. The United States team is scheduled to defend the Ryder Cup early next month in Wales.

Others who made it to the wild card are Stewart Cink, Rickie Fowler and and Zach Johnson. The eight qualifiers are world number two Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Jeff Overton, Dustin Johnson, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Bubba Watson and Hunter Mahan.

Woods is looking forward to his 6th appearance at the Ryder Cup this October. He has so far won 10 of his 25 matches, lost 13 and halved two matches.

Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 Round 4 Leaderboard Updates

Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 Round 4 Leaderboard Updates – Today the exciting Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 2010 will come to a close and the first elimination match for the FedEx Cup 2010 will also end. So far the standing looks all in favor for Martin Laird who is at 12 under 201. He performed well during Round 3 and starting the tournament with a pretty good poise.

Jason Day who took over the lead from Tiger Woods during Round 2 is still very much in contention. Day is tied with two other players, Dustin Johnson and Rory Sabbatini each at 9 under par. Sabbatini is doing a good performance for Round 4 with 7 under par.

Luke Donald, who is now having his final tee for Round 4 advances to second place with 10 under par and is also doing a good job today with a total of 7 under.

Dustin Johnson still hopes to perform well and perhaps steal the winning poise from Martin Laird, but this seems to be a difficult task. For Tiger Woods, he can do an amazing trick and still win but it will be a difficult one. The main target for Woods is to advance to the next round of the FedEx Cup and perform well at the Barclays Golf Tournament 2010.

Lots of things at stake today and we will see the exciting conclusion later in the day. Meanwhile here is Martin Laird who has a 54-hole lead for the first time in his career — in one of the biggest events of the season.

Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 Round 3 Leaderboard

Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 Round 3 Leaderboard Update – There is a new leader at the Barclays Golf Tournament 201 after Round 3 ended today. This is clearly shown in the Barclays Round 3 leaderboard. Martin Laird started the Playoffs at No. 95 and was hopeful of reaching the second round. Now he is at the number 1 spot and surely this made his day.

“I didn’t think I’d come in here and move that much,” Laird said after his 6-under 65. “I caught a glimpse of the projected FedExCup and I got a little shock.”

Laird took the lead of Jason Day on Round 2 as Day slid to the number 2 spot with 9 under par 204 and tied with Dustin Johnson. The last round will be held Sunday and would determine who will take home the price for the Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 being held at Ridgewood Country Club.

If the 27-year old Martin Laird win the Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 it would move him to the No. 1 spot and assure him a spot in all four majors next year, and making him a serious contender for the $10 million FedExCup payoff.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods slid down further to T28 after he made 1 over par 72 during the 3rd Round. Tiger Woods total score for Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 is at 3 under par 210. For the rest of the Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 Leaderbaord, you can see it from the website of PGA Tour here.

Tiger Woods Slips Down Barclays Leaderboard

A day after shooting 6-under 65 to tie for the first round lead at the Barclays, Tiger Woods stumbled on day two with a 2-over par 73 as he struggled with his putting anew. He is now in a tie for 14th and four shots behind second round leader Jason Day who scored identical 67s in his first two rounds. First round co-leader Vaughn Taylor is just a stroke behind Day by shooting a one-under 70 for a two-day total of 135. A four- shot deficit may seem very manageable for Woods in the past years but he has been unpredictable this season.

Tiger started strong in the second round by making two birdies in the back nine where he started his round. The front nine seemed like a complete turnaround as Woods kept missing his putts. A second nine that featured four bogeys and zero birdies caused the world number one to slide down the leaderboard.

Number two Phil Mickelson missed the cut earlier, assuring Tiger Woods to stay on top at number one.

Tiger Woods’ Turn to Speak Out on Divorce With Elin Nordegren

Taking a break from the Barclays Tournament in Ridgewood Country Club, Tiger Woods told reporters in a press conference that, “It’s a sad time in our lives and we’re looking forward in our lives and how we can help our kids as best we can. I think that’s the most important thing. It’s a sad time and we’re going through it right now.”

Woods and Nordegren were officially divorced on Monday, some nine months after a “small army” of women came forward to expose the details of their steamy affairs with the golf superstar.

Asked about feelings of relief or remorse, Woods said relief or remorse are not quite the right words but “more sadness”. He added, “You don’t ever go into a marriage looking to get divorced, that’s why it is sad. My actions certainly led us to this decision. I made a lot of errors in my life. I understand that she is sad and I feel the same way.”

My two cents worth… I doubt if Elin Nordegren went through her marriage expecting this kind of scandalous behavior about her husband.

As for Tiger, you should never go into a marriage looking to be able to continue your philandering ways and not expect your wife to divorce you when she finds out. Didn’t you know what was going to happen and how “sad” your wife was going to be the very first time you took on a mistress? Duh???

Elin Nordegren Speaks Out

Finally out of the woods, Elin Nordegren speaks out for the first time about what transpired to lead her to end her almost six-year marriage to golf great Tiger Woods.

In her interview with People Magazine, Nordegren wanted people to know of three things: that she is not violent and never hit Woods; that she had no idea this (pertaining to Woods’ dalliances with more than a handful of women) was going on; and that it was a real marriage for her.

Nordegren and Woods were married Oct. 5, 2004, in Barbados and they have two children, a 3-year-old daughter, Sam, and an 18-month-old son, Charlie.

On Thanksgiving night, Woods drove his SUV over a fire hydrant and into a tree, which set off the shocking revelations that he had been cheating on his wife through multiple affairs. They were officially divorced Monday.

Nordegren said she would eventually forgive Woods, but that she is still working on it because forgiveness takes time.

Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods Divorce Settlement Now Official

Nine months after slamming his Cadillac into a fire hydrant that led to a series of scandalous revelations on his infidelities, Tiger Woods has finalized a divorce settlement with Elin Nordegren. They were married for close to six years.

The former couple will continue to share parental responsibilities for the children, three-year-old Sam Alexis and 19-month-old Charlie Axel. Terms of the settlement were undisclosed but the estimated value that Elin is set to receive is pegged at nine-digits. In return, Elin has signed on a non-disclosure agreement so as not to further damage Woods’ reputation and marketability as an endorser. This seems not a bad deal since Elin gets to benefit from Woods’ endorsements as well.

Now that their divorce is official, PGA world number one Tiger Woods can focus on getting back to the game where he was feared most. Woods has not won any majors since the scandal on his extramarital affairs broke out. A Tiger Woods comeback by way of another major title may be good for the game and good for the sporting world as a whole.

Tiger Woods’ First Round: Three Shots Off PGA Championship

Tiger Woods fired a decent round on Thursday at the PGA Championship. His one-under par 71 placed him tied at 24th and three shots behind first day leaders Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari. Many players have not completed all 18 holes of the first round due to fog. Friday forecast is just as foggy with expected rainshowers later in the day.

World number one Woods started off with three birdies in his first four holes. He faltered to finish at 71 in a first round that has been delayed by weather. Players who have not completed the first round are starting early on Friday, making the afternoon schedule uncertain given the weather forecast.

Phil Mickelson has not completed his first round on Thursday but he is tied at 24th spot with one-under par after eleven holes. He has a shot at taking over the number one spot after the PGA Championship.

This is the last major for the season. Although Woods has been at number one for five years now, he has not won a major this year. Woods and Mickelson started out as odds on favorites. Woods has never been the same after news about his infidelities came out and scandals hounded him. Mickelson on the other hand is suffering from arthritis which can hamper his performance.

Hunter Mahan Doing Better Than Tiger Woods These Days

Hunter Mahan made par despite hitting a planter box on Sunday at the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational. A free drop after a wayward tee shot on the par-5, 667-yard 16th hole salvaged a par for Mahan. This huge Mahan victory also secured him a spot in the Ryder Cup team U.S.A.

The event held at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio is Mahan’s second title this year out of his total of three. What makes this even more interesting is that Mahan secured the second spot in the U.S. team while Tiger Woods is in danger of not qualifying for the team.

Tiger Woods despite his highest 72-hole finish of 18-over par remains at world number one spot when Phil Mickelson failed to wrest the number one ranking with a similarly dismal performance in the tournament. A fourth place finish at the least would have given Mickelson the world top spot.

Woods is heading to Wisconsin to play in the PGA Championship hoping to make it to team U.S.A.

Tiger Woods Joining Dubai Desert Classic

World Number PGA player Tiger Woods announced that he is eyeing the Omega Dubai Desert Classic title he won in 2008. Woods missed last year’s tournament due to a knee injury that required surgery. Tournament organizers disclosed that Woods is participating in this leg of the European Tour to regain the title he won in 2006 and 2008. The Dubai Classic is scheduled on February 10 to 13 next year. Woods has stayed in the top five since he started playing in the Dubai leg in 2001.

Struggling all year, Woods still managed to stay at number one spot despite not winning any major title this season. In the last British Open Championship at St. Andrews, Woods finished tied at 23rd place. Bad weather conditions may have been a factor to his dismal performance but Woods had some serious putting problems too.

With the recent results of the Greenbrier Classic, Jeff Overton may push Woods out of the U.S. lineup for the Ryder Cup tournament.

PGA and sports fans are eager to see Tiger Woods get back to his dominating ways. It will be good for the sport and good for Woods himself just to soften the impact of the personal problems he has faced in the last several months.
