8001050F is indeed the most famous error code in the history of all PS3 error codes. We already wrote about how Sony reacted in this phenomena and how to fix the PS3 error code 8001050F. The truth is, until now this error wasn’t fixed by Sony yet.

There’s a manual but risky way to resolve this Playstation Network downtime error. But only a few brave souls attempted to fix their own console.

It has been more than 24 hours since Sony promised to fix 8001050F. Sony disappointed a lot of users world wide. As a matter of fact, people wants to sue Sony, as what one of the commenters said in this article.

“We are now in the state of paranoia”, said Mark Gilmer, a certified Playstation 3 addict.

One of our commenters also said that the problem is not with the PSN, but with the PS3’s software.

Others said that it will be fixed after March 1, 2010, because the Playstation’s brain is too dumb and thought that 2010 is a leap year and today is February 29, 2010, which is so wrong.

Once again, let’s all wait for the official announcement from the Playstation blog about how to fix this error.

I bet there’s another firmware upgrade that will resolve this and the Sony Playstation engineers are working overtime to find a way to fix this software bug that made all PS3 fanboys gone mad.

PlayStation 3 hacked by a US iPhone Cracker

A US hacker who gained notoriety for unlocking Apple’s iPhone as a teenager is now bragging that he hacked Sony’s PlayStation 3 (PS3).

George Hotz, the hacker, sad that his hack could allow people to run pirated games or homemade software. It took him 5 weeks to hack Playstation 3.

He said he was still refining the technique but intended to post full details online soon.

The PS3 is the only games console that has not been hacked, despite being on the market for three years.

Mr Hotz said that he had begun the hack last summer when he had spent three weeks analysing the hardware.

After a long break, he spent a further two weeks cracking the console, which he described as a “very secure system”.

Recent versions of the PS3 do not have the ability to play PS2 games after Sony controversially removed a piece of hardware.

He admitted that it could also allow people to run pirated games.

3-Inch Floppy Disks Finally Discontinued

Better keep those 3.5 inch floppy disks as souvenirs, as Sony has officially discontinued the production of the said floppy disks in Japan. It’s another end of an era as the floppy disks can now be said to be extinct by next year.
Sony stopped the US production of floppy disks long ago and most markets have already pulled out the presence of floppy disks in their inventories. It’s still pretty amazing to know however that Sony was able to sell around 12 million floppy disks during the last fiscal year.
It’s time to move forward as Sony recounts. Looking back at history, Sony introduced the 3.5-inch floppy disk medium back in 1981. Since the late 90s and early millenium, the floppy disks have already become obsolete with the arrival of memory cards, rewritable CDs and DVDs on the market that have whopping memory space compared to about 1.44MB per floppy disk.
So long floppy disks!

Sony on the other hand remained silent regarding this matter. After Patrick Seybold announced the latest news regarding their network status, there’s no more update that followed that announcement.

They just promised that they will fix the error within 24 hours. But if you’re an avid gamer and a super hardcore Playstation fanatic, I bet you can’t wait and you’re now hitting your head against the wall. We can’t deny the fact that PS3 fanboys went insane waiting and waiting and waiting for the fix to arrive.

Sony Announces Release Date of Playstation Move at GDC

Today, Sony announced another outstanding technology they would release in this year’s Game Developer’s Conference (GDC).  Sony has been busy creating and innovating new technology in all aspects of their production.  Last January, they shared the new 3D Flat Screen that they have also just released worldwide this March.  Living true to their tag line “Believe that anything you can imagine, you can make real. – Make.Believe” they just announced launch date of their new product console’s game controlers – the Playstation Move.

Although the date has been released, the price has not been announced yet.  Sony gladly sent units to game experts and enthusiasts for testing.  Engadget’s website has one of the most interesting initial review as they put hands to this new gaming technology.

Sony’s PlayStation Move: The Next Generation of Motion Gaming

Along with the latest innovations in the gaming world, PlayStation maker Sony need to keep up with contenders. With the success of Nintendo’s Wii in motion gaming, they come up with similar technology. It is called PlayStation Move.

“We’d like to think of this as the next generation of motion gaming,” said Sony’s marketing boss Peter Dille. “We are confident that when we look back in five years time, this will be seen as a seminal moment for PlayStation.” While crediting the Wii with doing a “great job in introducing motion gaming to the masses”, Mr Dille said the Move has the “potential to take gaming beyond where it is today”.

The latest innovation of Sony in motion gaming didn’t amaze the masses that much because it didn’t introduce something new. According to Guy Cocker, UK editor of gaming site GameSpot, “I was disappointed with the amount of real innovation we saw. In terms of ideas, it is very similar to what we have seen with the Wii and if you are Sony, you can’t help but want to ape that success,”

Sony wasn’t able to keep up with Nintendo’s Wii sales and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 with their PS3 sales. “PlayStation Move isn’t that innovative. It doesn’t do anything that differently than the Wii but everyone feels they need to get into this space,” according to Dan Ackerman, a senior editor with the review site CNet.com.

The controller will go on sale in the autumn and will cost less than $100 (£47).
