Pittsburgh Demolishes Cleveland, Wins AFC North

The Pittsburgh Steelers scored a 41-9 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday to win the AFC North and gain a first-roud bye in the playoffs. The season seemed like a tough climb for the Steelers after missing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who was suspended in the early stages.

Roethlisberger once again led the Steelers with 280 yards and threw two touchdown passes. Pittsburgh defense swarmed rookie quaterback Colt McCoy who was intercepted three times and sacked four times. McCoy’s lone touchdown pass came in the fourth quarter when the game was already beyond reach for the Browns.

Roethlisberger threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace early in the first quarter to et the tone for the Steelers. Rashard Mendenhall rushed for two touchdowns in the first half as the Steelers led 31-3 at the break.

Roethlisberger spend the rest of the second half resting. By then, Pittsburgh led 38-3 on Antwaan Randle El’s touchdown pass to Hines Ward.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Football Live Scores and Results

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Football Live Scores and Results –  The battle of two unlikely unbeaten teams. This is how many experts place the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but only one will be unbeaten after this game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have greatly improved their defense and surprisingly they had become unbeaten even without star player Ben Roethlisberger. Though the Steelers were not able to score offensively in regulation, their defense is what will hopefully allow them another win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers might have not seen a defense as good as this and their offensive strikes might be tested. So far, Tampa Bay Buccaneers have forced three turnovers in their first two games and they might just do that again.

“They’re playing with a little bit of wisdom beyond their years,” Morris said. “We’ve been winning as a team … with everybody contributing. That’s the only way we can do it.”

Yahoo! and ESPN place their NFL pick and odds for Week 3 for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

NFL Draft 2010 Picks: Thaddeus Gibson drafted by Pittsburgh Steelers

Just this hour, Thaddeus Gibson grabbed the headlines of hundreds of news websites and popular blogs around the world.

So why Thaddeus Gibson got uber famous all of a sudden? The answer is simple, it’s because he won the lottery. Yes, he won the lottery worth $5 Billion US Dollars!

Is that a joke? Yes it is! Thaddeus Gibson never won before and didn’t win 5 Billion US dollars. The main reason why Thaddeus topped the search trends is because he was drafted by Pittsburgh Steelers in the 4th round.

Thaddeus Gibson, Ohio State’s defensive linebacker Thaddeus was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round this morning with the No. 116 overall pick.

That’s an awesome news isn’t it? Well, not so awesome if you’re not a fan and you don’t care about him.

Is Gibson really fit to join the Pittsburgh Steelers? At 6-foot-2 and 243 pounds, Thaddeus Gibson is similar in size to the Steelers’ starting outside linebackers, James Harrison (6-0, 242 pounds) and LaMarr Woodley (6-2, 265), so he’ll fit the system.

So that’s all for the latest news about Thaddeus Gibson. Yes, that’s all, really!

NFL Preseason Standings: Pittsburgh Steelers vs Carolina Panthers Game Cause Steelers Casualty

NFL Preseason Standings: Pittsburgh Steelers vs Carolina Panthers Game Cause Steelers Casualty – The Pitssburg Steeler and Baltimore Ravens are leading the pack in the National Football League AFC North Team with each having .750 points. The Pittsburgh Steelers defeater the Carolina Panthers, 19-3 during their latest game September 2, 2010.

The Steelers might have win but the Panthers caused them a major casualty. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich injured his left knee. Leftwich is expected to replace Ben Roethlisberger during his suspension but it seems that will be a problem.

Carolina Panthers ended its preseason with no touchdowns in all of its game and Carolina Panthers coach John Fox seems to be resting his major players in preparation to the NFL 2010-2011 season.

The Panther’s Leftwich did play since the game was seen as a tune up for his anticipated start in the season opener of the NFL against the Atlanta Falcons in Sept. 12. He completed an 18-yard pass to rookie Emmanuel Sanders before being knocked off his feet as Steelers running back Mewelde Moore and Panthers safety Marcus Hudson collided near him.

It was indeed an unfortunate event for the Pittsburgh Steelers and they will indeed enter the season with a bit of a handicap. Meanwhile, here are the full standings of the NFL Preseason 2010 courtesy of www.nfl.com.
