Plagiarism Filed against J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter fans might be screaming in their seats upon knowing this latest news about their favorite author. There has been a lawsuit filed against J.K Rowling for her 4th book in Harry Potter Series which Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. The British author has been claiming that the book has been copying ideas from the book entitled ” The Adventures of Willy and the Wizard- No 1 Livid Land” by the late Adrian Jacobs which was published in 1987. His estate filed the case in London last Wednesday. She allegedly sued for copying concepts such as wizard contests, wizard prisons, wizard hospitals, and wizard colleges from the book of Jacobs.

This is not the first time that she faced charges of plaigarism fo Harry Potter Series. In 2002, a suit brought by American author Nancy Stouffer who claimed that her character “Larry Potter” bore a striking resemblance to Rowling’s “Harry Potter.” Stouffer lost the case.

“Given the success of Rowling’s Potter series it seems unlikely that she’ll stop being a lightning rod for suits of this nature. While her stories are hugely popular, they do mirror many archetypes and story arcs found in popular tales.” written by Library Journal writer Lauren Barack

“As for “The Adventures of Willy the Wizard,” Rowling released a statement through a spokesperson saying, “I have certainly never read the book.”

Hawking Says God Did Not Create the Universe

Hawking Says God Did Not Create the Universe – Stephen Hawking is creating a heavy discussion and buzz after his latest book, “The Grand Design” claims that God did not create the universe and the “Big Bang” was an inevitable consequence of the law of physics.

The book, “The Grand Design” was authored by renowned Britis theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking and is co-authored by U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow.

Hawking added in his interview by The Times Newspaper that based on a new series of theories a creator of the universe was redundant. “Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist,” says Hawking.

Hawking and his book will surely earn a lot of ire and debate from the Catholic Church and perhaps even from Muslims and other religions. The basic tenet of the book clearly promotes atheism and denies the existence of a God.

Stephen Hawking has won global recognition for his 1998 book “”A Brief History of Time.” He is also known for his work on black holes, cosmology and quantum gravity.

“The Grand Design” is due to go on sale next week.
