Spongebob Save NY girl’s life
Long Beach NY-A Long Island girl proved that Nickelodeon’s Spongebob Squarepants isn’t just a fun animated show but educational too.
Miriam Starobin and her best friend, Allyson Golden, were in music class Tuesday when Allyson began choking on her gum. Allyson turned red and started kicking her legs.
“I [couldn’t] speak, “Golden said. “So my arms are around my neck. I’m turning purple and my legs are flailing,”
Miriam-recalling a Spongebob Squarepants episode where Squidward gets a clarinet lodged in his throat and SpongeBob does the Heimlich.
She pulled her off the ground and performed the Heimlich on Allyson. The gum flew out, and Allyson caught her breath.
Miriam says she is also a fan of medical shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” but never had any formal training in the technique.
And now, the girl is considered a hero and a lifesaver with a little help from an energetic and optimistic sea sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea.Follow us on Twitter to get free up-to-date news via tweets from the World Correspondents, or you can subscribe to us by entering your e-mail below.
