Some Facts about Facebook that you need to know
Privacy and on-line security concerns appear to be fuelling a backlash against Facebook, leading more and more formerly faithful users of the social networking giant to delete their accounts.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg called his founding users ‘dumb f**cks’, instant messenger transcripts show.
The IM transcripts, detailing a conversation between a then 19-year-old Zuckerberg and an unnamed friend, apparently date back to 2004, www.theregister.co.uk reported.
According to Business Insider, the conversation goes like this:
Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard
Zuck: Just ask
Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS
Redacted friend’s name:What? How’d you manage that one?
Zuck: People just submitted it.
Zuck: I don’t know why.
Zuck: They “trust me”
Zuck: Dumb f**ks
The IM exchange may well be put down to college-boy bravado, but it chimes with Facebook’s generally cavalier attitude to privacy since its inception. Most applications on Facebook require users to allow access to their personal information and that of their friends. It is possible to refuse, but those that do cannot then play games like Farmville or Mafia Wars with their Facebook friends.
