San Francisco Giants Beat Atlanta Braves 1-0 Behind Two-Hitter By Tim Lincecum
The San Francisco Giants grabbed a 1-0 lead over the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of their NL Division Series on Thursday. Two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum may have regained his old form in leading the Giants to a 1-0 win against the Braves.
Lincecum struck out fourteen on his way to pitching a two-hitter. It comes a day after Ray Halladay threw a no-hitter for Philadelphia as the Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds. It only took two hours and twenty six minutes for Lincecum to accomplish this feat.
The breaks of the game went the Giants way as umpire Paul Emmel called a Buster Posey steal as safe. Braves pitcher intentionally walked Pablo Sandoval which was followed by a Cody Ross run-scoring single. This lone run in the fourth was all the Giants needed to secure a win.
Matt Cain starts for the Giants in Game 2 on Friday night. Cain is going up against Tommy Hanson.Follow us on Twitter to get free up-to-date news via tweets from the World Correspondents, or you can subscribe to us by entering your e-mail below.
