NBA free agent shooting guard Ronnie Brewer has reportedly signed with the Chicago Bulls. Brewer is the third former Utah Jazz player who has joined the Bulls in the offseason. Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver have already signed up with the Bulls prior to Brewer’s move. Brewer was actually traded by the Jazz to the Memphis Grizzlies at the trade deadline last season but he only played five games after being sidelined by a hamstring injury.
Reports from ESPN.com and Yahoo.com said that the contract was for three years worth around $12 million. However, the third year is not guaranteed according to reports from ESPN.com.
The Chicago Bulls reportedly turned their interest in Brewer after failing to acquire J.J. Redick from the Orlando Magic. The Magic matched the Bulls offer and this opened up the opportunity for Brewer. This essentially reunites him with former teammates Boozer and Korver plus a chance to start a shooting guard with All-Star point guard Derrick Rose.
