The 157th Ohio State Fair opens at 9 am today. Governor Ted Strickland cut the ceremonial ribbon to formally open the event that would last until the 8th of August.
Next to the traditional butter cow and calf sculptures were replicas of National Football League players Chinedum Ndukwe of the Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Thomas of the Cleveland Browns. A ton of butter was reportedly used to create these sculptures.
Aside from the usual fair fun, a high dive show, art competitions and strolling entertainers add to the attraction of the 157th Ohio State Fair.
Sporting events such as the Ohio State University (OSU) dance team performances, a boxing tournament named after James “Buster” Douglas, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) show and a mixed martial arts (MMA) event called Ultimate Victory Challenge 12 (UVC 12) highlight the 12-day fair.
