NCAA Men’s Basketball: Nebraska Upsets No. 3 Texas
The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ Brandon Richardson hit two free throws in the final 7.2 seconds of the game to preserve 70-67 upset victory over the No. 3 Texas Longhorns on Saturday. Texas had the chance to tie the game but missed on a three-point attempt at the buzzer.
Richardson scored 15 points for Nebraska, 10 of them coming in the second half. Toney McCray had 14 points and six rebounds, Jorge Diaz had 11 points and five rebounds while Andre Almeida finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
Jordan Hamilton and J’Covan Brown had 18 points each while Cory Joseph had 13 points for Texas.
Texas led 33-26 at the halftime break but Nebraska came back strong to lead by eleven, 64-53, in the final 2:35 of the game. The Longhorns went on a 12-1 run to the score at 65-65 with 1:07 left in the game.
