Former NBA player Lorenzen Wright has been missing since July 18. Ten days later he was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. The 34-year old NBA journeyman was supposed to travel out of town but was reported missing after four days.
Friends and former teammates would rather remember Wright or “Wren” as an intense player who has an outgoing personality off the court. Wright played with five different NBA teams in a 13-year professional basketball career. He was still in college at the University of Memphis when the Los Angeles Clippers drafted him 7th overall in the 1996 NBA season. From there, he has moved to the Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings until his last stop with the Cleveland Cavaliers, playing just 17 games in the 2009 NBA season.
While Wright did not live up to his full potential with career averages of 8 points and 6.4 rebounds, he was a player who displayed so much intensity on the court whether winning or losing and would be typically smiling off the court.
Rest in peace Wren…
