Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Boxing Fight Was Rescheduled Once Again – The much awaited Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight was postponed after Mayweather allowed Bob Arum’s deadline to pass at 3 a.m. ET Saturday. The fight was supposedly scheduled this coming November 13 but after Mayweather refused to reply from the invitation, Arum said he will now embark on talks with Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto for Pacquiao’s next boxing fight.
“Floyd, for whatever reason and I’m sure he has a valid reason, did not want to commit. I’ll tell you that next week I’ll be talking to the Cotto camp and the Margarito camp regarding a fight with Manny Pacquiao”, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said after minutes following the announced deadline.
Arum also said that once he got a deal with another opponent with Pacquiao, the scheduled fight with Mayweather for November 13 would be considered dead not unless Mayweather suddenly emerged and changed his mind to continue with the fight. In that case, there would be nothing opposed to getting together to do it.
A lot of people were asking the reason behind Mayweather’s hesitancy to accept the deal. Major speculations point out to Mayweather’s uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, as he was scheduled to go on trial in August on a criminal charge in Las Vegas. Bob Arum stressed this claim by saying: “I know how Manny would feel if he had to go into a fight like this without the services of (head trainer) Freddie Roach. Presumably, Floyd would feel the same way without his uncle.”
This was the second time that the much awaited Mayweather vs. Pacquiao boxing fight was postponed. The two was scheduled to fight last March 13 when Mayweather’s camp requested a drug-testing method for Pacquiao. However, Pacquiao refused to agree to the random blood tests and so the fight did not push through. Let’s see which fighter will Pacquiao face in his next fight. Will it be Margarito or Cotto?
