‘Little Fockers’ Hits Box Office Top Spot – The third installment of Robert De Niro-Ben Stiller comedies, ‘Little Fockers’, topped the North American box office for a second week in a row, figures showed on Monday.
The industry tracker Exhibitor Relations said that the film gained 25.8 million dollars over three-day New Year’s Eve weekend, with total ticket sales towering past the 100-million mark just 12 days after its release.
The John Wayne western ‘True Gift’ lands on the second spot, following the ‘Little Fockers’.This film was a remake done by Oscar-winning brothers Joel and Ethan Coen. Jeff Bridges plays drunken, hard-nosed US Marshal “Rooster” Cogburn in the new version of the 1969 classic, which took in 24.4 million dollars a week after giving Coen brothers their best-ever opening.
Furthermore, Bridges also stars in the third top-seller ‘TRON: Legacy’. The movie earned 18.8 million dollars in ticket sales in its third weekend. This film is the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi cult hit stars Oscar-winner Bridges appearing opposite a computer-generated version of his younger self from the original movie.
After slipping to fifth last weekend, “Yogi Bear” which is a 3-D and partly computer animated family film landed on the fourth spot, earning 12.4 million dollars.
“The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, the third installment in the “Chronicles of Narnia” series based on the classic C.S. Lewis children’s books, gaining 10.3 million dollars, hits the fifth spot.
