Katie Holmes to portray Jackie Kennedy
Actress Katie Holmes is to play former US first lady Jackie Kennedy in a TV mini-series about President Kennedy and the events surrounding his family.
The 31-year-old actress and wife of Tom Cruise will star opposite Greg Kinnear (“Baby Mama,” “Little Miss Sunshine”), who will take on the role of JFK, in the eight-hour mini series, “The Kennedys.”
The cast includes Canadian actor Barry Pepper, who will play JFK’s brother, Robert, and Tom Wilkinson, who takes on the role of patriarch Joe Kennedy Sr.
The serial is due to be aired on the US cable channel next year.
It will cover the early years of Kennedy’s presidency until 1963, when he was assassinated in Dallas.
Jackie Kennedy,who later married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, was considered to be one of the most stylish women in the world.
Holmes, debuted her acting career on teen series “Dawson’s Creek” as the character of Joey Potter.
