We are still feeling the intense heat of summer but some sectors are already fighting about fur –Janet Jackson and Blackglama fur that is.
Yes, music icon and actress, Janet Jackson is causing quite a stir recently, not only because she is the newest celebrity to be featured in the Blackglama fur label ads but because of the criticism stemming from endorsing the said product.
Jackson joins the likes of Bette Davis, Audrey Hepburn, Ray Charles, Sophia Loren, Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross, Lauren Bacall, Lena Horne, Liza Minelli, Judy Garland, Faye Dunaway, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and many more who have posed for and in Blackglama fur over the years. The brand is known for its naturally rich, dark brand of minks.
As for the controversy arising from Jackson’s acceptance of being the latest Blackglama endorser, PETA views the ad as a betrayal by Jackson of the anti- fur beliefs PETA upholds and further calls Jackson’s endorsement as “desperate”.
Despite the criticism, Jackson said she views being chosen to be featured in Blackglama’s famous fur ads a great honor.
