Hawking Says God Did Not Create the Universe

September 3, 2010 by · 2 Comments

Hawking Says God Did Not Create the Universe – Stephen Hawking is creating a heavy discussion and buzz after his latest book, “The Grand Design” claims that God did not create the universe and the “Big Bang” was an inevitable consequence of the law of physics.

The book, “The Grand Design” was authored by renowned Britis theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking and is co-authored by U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow.

Hawking added in his interview by The Times Newspaper that based on a new series of theories a creator of the universe was redundant. “Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist,” says Hawking.

Hawking and his book will surely earn a lot of ire and debate from the Catholic Church and perhaps even from Muslims and other religions. The basic tenet of the book clearly promotes atheism and denies the existence of a God.

Stephen Hawking has won global recognition for his 1998 book “”A Brief History of Time.” He is also known for his work on black holes, cosmology and quantum gravity.

“The Grand Design” is due to go on sale next week.

Dear readers, having lived over 51 years on earth so far, which i called it “living in the years of wisdom”, i can’t help thinking why people still talks about God this and God that. Does it really matter? It might be easier for us “humans” to embrace an Almighty, subjective figurine, to help us move forward in life, otherwise seems “empty”, or excuses to do the so-called right or wrong in this is world, in its name. If there is any wisdom in life, I prefer to embrace that there are lifes beyond us, and they might be watching us “grow” from beyond our eyes. I believe for humans to grow, we need to embrace other lifes, instead of “God” as we all know it in our own ways. What happened to all these believes, if one day (will happen), something “pop” out of the sky, beyond the knowledge of religion, science & technology? Chaos, mayhem, armageddon? If we now embrace other possibilities, and discover lifes truly is beyond us, future of humans will be brighter. Let’s look at all of us as “the many faces of creations”, then to do the unthinkables.

May the force be with us, live long and prosper. Regards The Toneys

Actually this “news” item is total fiction. This is an untruth that any competent editor should apologize for, retract and never repeat. What Hawking did say is “It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the Universe going.”

Hawking would be the first to avow that by the nature of religion God cannot be either proved or disproved. Hawking has made no claims concerning the existence of God. His comments only characterize the physics of creation of our known universe and our world as it now exist.
