A few days ago, I posted an article on Greg Giraldo. At that time he was said to have been rushed to a New Jersey hospital after a friend found him unconscious in his hotel room from an apparent drug overdose. He was reported to be in critical but stable condition. That was four days ago.
Greg Giraldo, 44, died Wednesday, four days after being admitted for accidental overdose of prescription medication.
Giraldo wa a judge on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, as well as a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show and a regular fixture on the Comedy Central Roast circuit. He was actually a Columbia and Harvard Law School-educated attorney who strayed from his original path to school himself in the art of “insult comedy”.
A rep for Last Comic Standing said, “Greg was one of the most talented comedians of our time. He was truly brilliant. His work will surely continue to influence and inspire us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Giraldo, who was divorced, is survived by four children. Plans for a public memorial service are in the works.
