Google Topeka: Topeka in Kansas Becomes “Google”
While a lot of people are fooling around sending jokes and laughing with each others’ pranks in today’s April Fools Day celebration, this news about the city of Topeka in Kansas changing its name to Google is not part of the Google April Fools Day.
In an effort to win the bid as a test site for Google’s Baroadband services, the Mayor of Topeka in Kansas changed the city’s name from Topeka to Google.
Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten issued a proclamation among all Topeka residents to refer to their city as “Google, Kansas–the capital city of fiber optics” for the month of March.
Oh well, what do you think of this temporary change of name of Topeka Kansas to Google? Does it sound good? I bet not. However, politics commands the change. Well, that’s Topeka’s strategy to win a deal from Google. Let’s see if they can really win this Google Broadband deal.
