George Steinbrenner of Yankees dies at 80
The news just came out recently and being posted in Associated Press that the New York Yankee’s owner, George Steinbrenner died Tuesday morning. The news came from a person close to Steinbrenner and preferred to be anonymous because there isn’t any announcement from the team yet. He died after suffering a massive heart attack in his Tampa home on the morning of July 13, 2010.
As per wikipedia, Steinbrenner was a businessman and owner and former principal executive of Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees. His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries made him one of the sport’s most controversial figures.
He has owned the club for the longest time and has been known to be a hands-on executive and has been to be The Boss. Steinbrenner has also been awarded The Flying Wedge Award, one of the NCAA’s highest honors.
