Demi Lovato Enters Rehab
Disney star Demi Lovato joins the list of young and famous hollywood star to enter rehab. An alleged “altercation” with a dancer for her concert tour was the final straw which made the 18 year old actress/singer deciding to seek help. A Source close to the Camp Rock star said that Lovato dropped out of the world tour in order to seek help regarding some emotional and physical issues she has long battled with.
Last Monday, her publicist announced that Ms. Lovato cancelled her participation in the world tour with the Jonas Brothers and entered an inpatient treatment center last weekend. The publicist also made clear that ex boyfriend Joe Jonas and current beau Ashley Greene– both were also in the world tour– had nothing to do with the incident.
“Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.” said the publicist. “She regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future,” added the publicist.
Lovato has openly talked about her experiences with bullies in the past. When she guested in the Ellen DeGeneres show, she admitted to going through painful experiences with bullying middle school which subsequently made her ask for home-school education. She also wrote on an anti-bullying website some time ago:
“People say sticks and stones may break your bones, but names can never hurt you, but that’s not true. Words can hurt. They hurt me. Things were said to me that I still haven’t forgotten.”
Meanwhile, Lovato’s dad, Patrick Lovato, is speaking out about his troubled daughter and blaming the pressure from Hollywood as the culprit.
In an interview with RadarOnline, Patrick said that fame is to blame. “There are a lot of pressures,” he says. “That is one of the things I worried about when she signed with Disney,” he added. Patrick admitted that, while reports on his daughter’s struggle with bullying, cutting, and eating disorders were all over, he was not aware until recently. But he left with a optimistic note, telling RadarOnline that Demi will be okay. “She’ll be fine. She’s strong alright,” he said.
As for the fans who offered prayers and support, the whole family is thankful. “Our entire family appreciates the outpouring of support we have received from Demi’s fans,” Eddie and Dianna De La Garza, Lovato’s step dad and mother, told PEOPLE. “We are touched by their kindness.”
The place and name of the treatment center was not release but a source close to the family said it was not at one of the Hollywood-type centers. “Demi is receiving care at a real facility that specializes in helping adolescent and adult women with the type of issues she has battled,” said the source.
