There is definitely no stopping to the detainment of American actress, model and pop singer-songwriter Lindsay Lohan.
Lohan’s lawyer was reported quitting just hours before jail hours on Monday.
She tweeted on her Twitter account, “The only ‘bookings’ that i’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that i’d be ‘booking’ into Jail… eeeks,”.
Samantha Ronson, a loyal friend who has supported the actress through her ordeal, tweeted back, “well- you haven’t lost your sense of humour.”
According to TMZ, the post came after her attorney Robert Shapiro, who had taken on her case unofficially on the condition she followed the judge’s orders and reported to jail, stepped away on the same day he met with the judge.
It was not yet disclosed who would be representing Lohan during her hearing in Beverly Hills Superior Court where she is ordered to surrender on Tuesday.
Although he has been assisting her, Shapiro never formally became her attorney. Technically, her lawyer is still Shawn Chapman Holley, who parted ways with Lohan after the actress’s sentencing but never signed the papers removing herself as attorney of record.
Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in a women’s jail for violating probation in a DUI case, but likely will serve only a fraction of that due to overcrowding. She had entered a sober living facility with ties to Shapiro; her assistant was seen removing her belongings earlier Monday.
Academy award winner Angelina Jolie’ new movie Salt, action thriller film directed by Phillip Noyce, premiered Monday night in Hollywood.
Jolie and husband Brad Pitt arrived for the premiere which caused all cameras, from carpet to the streets, to turn towards them. She spent more time with the fans than with the press.
“Salt” is a PG 13 – adrenaline-filled action movie and Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, accused of being a Russian spy, KGB sleeper agent , on the run to try to clear her name.
The actress proudly did her own stunts for this movie.
“Just a lot of hand-to-hand combat, but the jumping stuff, which was a lot of that, you just have to jump,” said Jolie.
Asked how she made it through dangerous, high-rise apartment stunts, Angelina replied, “Fortunately, I’m not afraid of heights, so I like it. I actually do like it. I’m a little odd that way.”
“We want to do our own stunts. But some people are very talented to do their own stunts — Angie’s one of them,” said actor Jon Voight (Angelina’s father). “But for a father, it’s not easy to watch some of the stuff.”
“I like that, too. It was amazing,” said “Salt” co-star Live Schreiber. “It is just non-stop. It comes at you from every angle.”
When the movie ends, you realize there’s an opportunity for a “Salt” sequel.
“We’ve all spoken about maybe a sequel,” said director Phillip Noyce. “But it’s up to those guys out there to vote at the box office.”
BP Oil Spill Live Feed Upate: Oil Well Integrity Tests Continues – BP continues with its monitoring on the pressure of the new oil spill cap earlier installed in the MC252 exploratory oil well. Initially, it was set at 6 to 48 hours. On July 15, a lot of people were surprised to see that the oil spill stopped for the first time as witnessed in the snapshot of the BP oil spill live feed below:
However, as BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles said: “It’s far from the finish line. … It’s not the time to celebrate.” This was not permanent as BP needs to monitor if the oil spill cap can hold the pressure of the oil leak.
The pressure inside the oil well recently has been measured at approximately 6,792 pounds per square inch and continues to increase slowly. Both the Q4000 and Helix Producer sub-sea containment systems have been temporarily suspended. Data gathered during the test is currently being reviewed by the government agencies including the Federal Science Team to determine what are the next steps needed to contain this oil spill. After the test, both the Q4000 and Helix Producer oil containment systems are expected to resume capturing and flaring oil and gas.
Meanwhile, work and relief efforts continue to collect and disperse oil that has reached the surface of the sea in order to protect the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico. To date, these operations have recovered a total of approximately 807,143 barrels (33.9 million gallons) of oily liquid.

Things re just getting better for South Africa lately. After the success of the phenomenal World Cup FIFA, a South African just made his country proud in the world of golf. Louis Oothuizen has won the renowned British Open with flying colors and just on the day of Nelson Mandela’s birthday. A great gift for beloved leader.
One of South Africa’s prominent golfer, Gary Player said that all these things are fantastic. Even though his win could not change the current problems of the country nor the World Cup, achieving something this big is very heart warming.
Winning the British Open truly change the life of Oothuizen. He has a awesome performance by delivering a rock-solid four rounds and didn’t even gave the others a chance to get close.
He led the final 48 holes closing with a 1-under 71 that left him at 16-under 272 overall.
Having someone like Oothuizen bringing pride to South Africa is truly inspiring. Congratulations Louis!
Nowadays, vehicle innovations has reached beyond expectations. Every now and then, a country would unveil amazing crafts with amazing features. Just recently, in line with their Farnborough International Air Show, Great Britain has unveiled their whole new Bloodhound SuperSonic Car (SSC) 1:1 replica.
This is being developed by aerospace manufacturer Hampson Industries and they will begin building the rear of the real vehicle in the first quarter of 2011.
We now have a route to manufacture for the whole car,” said chief engineer Mark Chapman.
“We would hope to be able to shake down the vehicle on a runway in the UK either at the end of 2011 or at the beginning of 2012,” he told BBC
The vehicle should surpass the 763mph (1,228km/h) record set by the Thrust SuperSonic Car in 1997. 3 of the Thrust’s developers are part of today’s Bloodhound . They are aiming to beat the record of Thrust in an aim to inspire children to engage in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects.
The cars shape has been well researched and was assisted greatly by project sponsor Intel and fortunately be able to solve the lift problem. If everything would be all set, the car would be brought to dried up lakebed known as Hakskeen Pan, in the Northern Cape of South Africa, to begin its assault on the world land speed record. It’s shape would be its key to beat the record.
It’s called configuration 10,” said Mr Chapman. “It’s very angular at the back; it’s got a very narrow rear-track. Between November and March, we reduced 11 tonnes of lift to zero lift at Mach 1.3. At that point, we had the aerodynamic shape which you see in the show car. It’s very stable.”
Americans called it “Benjamins”. This is because in a $100 bill, the face of Benjamin Franklin can be seen on the reverse side of it. Aside from that it is also referred as the “C-Notes” based on the Roman numeral C which means 100.
As per history, year 1861, the first large size $100 bill has the size of 7.4218 × 3.125 inches and the face that can be seen there is the face of General Winfield Scott. It was in year 1914 wherein the face of Benjamin Franklin appeared. By year 1929, small sized $100 bill came, which is already in its standard size of 6.14 × 2.61 in, still has the face of Benjamin Franklin. It was issued as a Federal Reserve Note with a green seal and serial numbers and as a Gold Certificate with a golden seal and serial numbers.
By March 29, 1995, a major change has happened wherein it has adopted the contemporary style layout. It has a security features which includes watermark of Franklin to the right side of the bill, optically variable ink (known as O.V.I.) that changed from green to black when viewed at different angles, a higher quality and enlarged portrait of Franklin, and hard-to-reproduce fine line printing around Franklin’s portrait and Independence Hall.
Now, the newest design of the “Benjamins” has been finally shown. It was announced last month. Known to be the “Super Dollar”, it has a very sophisticated design and contains a Crane & Co. security feature called Motion, containing up to 650,000 microlenses embedded in the printing which will allow for an underlying image to shift when the bill is moved.

Apple iPhone 4 Antennagate Issue – Apple’s latest release of iPhone 4 has been plagued with complaints from various users.
In particular, iPhone 4 received a lot of criticisms which includes signal attenuation issues that result in dropped calls especially in urban locations such as San Francisco and New York City. This occurs when the phone was held in a manner that covered the lower left hand corner of exterior edge resulting in a signal strength deterioration.
In the latest Apple Press Conference last week, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs unveiled a free bumper case available for everyone as a solution to this antennagate issue. The case helps users from placing their hand on the spot which causes the dropping of reception.
For those who have purchases their Apple iPhone 4 and not satisfied with it, Steve Jobs said that they can return the unit with a full refund within 30 days.
The ‘tech’ world has been bugged with iPhone 4 antenna problems lately and Apple has been releasing statements which has challenged rivals such RIM, HTC and Nokia. Steve Jobs made mention in their press conference that signal degradation can also happen to any phone and it has mentioned RIM’s BlackBerry Bold 9700 as an example. RIM surely defends themselves with this degrading comparison. Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis, RIM’s co-CEO answered the issue from a quoted statement posted in CrackBerry.com
“Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.”
– Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie
Apple also made mention that iPhone 4 antenna problem should be blamed to it’s design for an aim to have the slimmest phone ever. Nokia is not buying the reason though. They are claiming to be the pioneer of internal antenna technology, and has that it has this all figured out where Apple didn’t.
Antenna design is a complex subject and has been a core competence at Nokia for decades, across hundreds of phone models. Nokia was the pioneer in internal antennas; the Nokia 8810, launched in 1998, was the first commercial phone with this feature.
Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying human behavior, including how people hold their phones for calls, music playing, web browsing and so on. As you would expect from a company focused on connecting people, we prioritize antenna performance over physical design if they are ever in conflict.
In general, antenna performance of a mobile device/phone may be affected with a tight grip, depending on how the device is held. That’s why Nokia designs our phones to ensure acceptable performance in all real life cases, for example when the phone is held in either hand. Nokia has invested thousands of man hours in studying how people hold their phones and allows for this in designs, for example by having antennas both at the top and bottom of the phone and by careful selection of materials and their use in the mechanical design.
HTC got the worst comparison though as Apple has sited their Droid Eris to have the worst signal of all. HTC didn’t release any lengthy statement to answer this, rather they used statistics against Apple. They posted that only 0.016% of its Droid Eris buyers have called to complain about signal problems compared to Apple’s 0.055%.
Apple could have been struggling with what’s going on now most especially that rivals all are eyes and ears to whatever they say and very ready to counter-react.
What’s your viewpoint on this matter? Please feel free to post all your reactions to this one.
