With 19 Emmy Nominations, Who Wouldn’t be GLEE-ful?

Primetime front-runner and high school kids’ favorite, GLEE certainly has 19 reasons to be glee-ful about as it takes home the most Emmy Nominations for a primetime series. Now, wouldn’t that be something to sing glee-fully about?

Anyway, kudos to the whole cast led by Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Lea Michele, Jayma Mays and, my personal favorite, Kevin McHale.

I wish I had the singing chops of even the worst singer that William Mckinley High School’s glee club has… but I am not saying who, in my personal opinion, it is.

For those who have been living under a rock and don’t know what Glee is all about, it is a musical comedy cum drama series that airs on Fox in the United States.

Going back to the Emmy’s, rounding out the nominees for the Outstanding Comedy series category with Glee are Modern Family, Nurse Jackie, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm and last year’s defending Emmy winner, 30 Rock.

Got Sun… Have Power: Switching to Solar Energy

The heat wave we are currently sweating buckets under makes me want to urge our government’s leaders re-visit and support the proposal to switch to solar power as an alternative source of energy.

With the sticky situation the United States is currently having with oil, maybe it is indeed about time to pour more dollars into researching the possibilities that solar power offers.

Aside from harnessing a natural resource we are all currently “roasting” under, using solar energy will decrease the use and need to churn in more fossil fuel. This will in turn slow down the degeneration of our environment’s resources. A win-win situation, if I might say.

Thinking aloud, if we can generate some form of energy out of the body heat we are all emitting under this heat wave, maybe that will be even better. Given the 300 million Americans now frying in the heat wave, we might have enough power to light up a small town. So somebody please invent something to harness and convert body heat into energy pronto!

Air Conditioners Keep Heat Wave At Bay

Power systems in the US East Coast are put to the test as temperatures rise above 100 degrees. Air conditioners are on full throttle to combat the heat wave in this area. The average temperature is not expected to drop until Wednesday and there is some concern about the ability of the power grid lines to handle the electrical load.

There have been reports on minor power outages but the air conditioners continue to operate in most areas without power interruption.

Further north, there were reported outages in Canada as Toronto locals experienced power outages for hours.

At this point, US residents can only rely on air conditioners to beat the heat while the power supply can take on the electrical load. Reducing power demand through other means such as shutting down other electrical appliances other than air conditioners can help reduce stress on the power supply.

By Thursday, temperatures are expected to drop. This should lessen the power demand and somehow ease our worries about our electrical bills.

What Now King James?

Rumors are abuzz that NBA free agent Lebron James might not be staying in Cleveland after all. Prior to news that Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh are committing to join the Miami Heat, most of us have thought that James was staying with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Speculations were strong that all the wheeling and dealing with other teams was just a marketing strategy cooked up by team LeBron but he will eventually stay in his hometown.

Now that Wade and Bosh are playing together in Miami, it would make sense to add another star to the equation to complete Pat Riley’s own version of his “Big Three”. The two stars can make the Heat a stronger team but it does not make them legitimate contenders.

Tonight we will find out how all this drama turns out to be. James has scheduled a one-hour TV special with ESPN to finally announce his decision.

Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant never resorted to hyping the media like this. What made them great players is that they have enough rings to fill up fingers in one hand. Jordan has an extra ring on his other hand.

How many NBA rings does King James have? Sooner or later, he could win a ring or two. Dwayne Wade could win one for him because D-Wade knows what it takes to win a championship.

Li Yu Chun: Taiwan’s Next Whitney Houston Video

When it comes to power belter singers in the history of the music industry, Whitney Houston could have been the best. Most of her songs strikes high notes and she sings it with less effort. A lot of new singers uses her songs for auditions and a lot of singing show contestants are using it during final episodes. If you could reach her notes and you can singe her songs, you got a very great potential in the world of music.

At this very moment, Taiwan has finally found their “Whitney Houston”. This time, it is made possible by a boy. His name is Li Yu Chun. He is known to be “boy who has the voice of Whitney of Houston”. Some are even saying he can also be the next Susan Boyle. He is a contestant in a singing reality show in Taiwan, Super Star Avenue. He is known to be the “Little Fatty” and he amazed everyone with his rendition of “Amazing Grace”. The show’s champion will be given $1 million dollars and a recording contract as well.

Wade, Bosh Join Forces In Miami

Dwayne Wade and former Toronto Raptor Chris Bosh have committed to signing up with the Miami Heat. These two All-Stars with firepower and drawing power are now expected to end years of frustration for the Heat and Wade since they last won an NBA Championship in 2006.

It is highly doubtful that Wade and Bosh can deliver the Heat deep into the finals. They can probably take the team deeper into the playoffs but to actually win another NBA title may seem far-fetched.

Unlike the Chicago Bulls or Cleveland lineup that has talent in its supporting cast, Wade and Bosh do not have anyone else in Miami. How else will they fare against an intact LA Lakers team?

Adding LeBron James to the Miami equation may do the trick. There is still a possibility if only James can forget about his ego and really focus on an NBA ring.

For the meantime, Wade and Bosh can keep running their two-man game and fall short of an NBA title again next season.

Spain Books Second World Cup Finals Slot

A header at the 72nd minute by Carles Puyol set a World Cup finals date for Spain with Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup.

Spain defeated a young German squad, 1-0, to earn the second finals spot in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The Spaniards played so well they made the German squad look so bad.

Spain applied pressure all game with several attempts at the goal. It was just a matter of time until Spain would score a goal and it finally happened when a powerful header by Carles Puyol from a Xavi corner kick broke a 0-0 deadlock.

The young Germans never got to employ their vaunted counterattacks using their speed and creative plays. This semifinal game probably reminded the Germans of their 2008 Euro title match wherein the Spaniards won with a similar score.

The World Cup final match with Netherlands is set for Sunday, June 11.

Justin Bieber and Ebaums

Baby, baby, baby oh… It appears Justin Bieber is the latest victim of the eBaums, a group highly controversial for using the content from other websites without permission or citing the sources and rebranding them with the eBaum’s World logo.

This time around eBaums targetted Bieber, and found a HTML vulnerability in the comment section of Youtube to do it.

Youtube took the matter into its own hands and quickly disabled all comments using such HTML vulnerability. Below is the official statement released by Google on the incident:

“We took swift action to fix a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability on youtube.com that was discovered several hours ago. Comments were temporarily hidden by default within an hour, and we released a complete fix for the issue in about two hours. We’re continuing to study the vulnerability to help prevent similar issues in the future”
