Once again one of Justin Beiber’s songs could very well sum up what I wanted to say in this article – “Never say never”… to a haircut.
Yup, the boy with the golden tresses has chopped off his famous slightly side-swept bangs. Aside from finally ending the irritation that his long bangs is causing his eyes, the baby, baby, baby ohhh sensation did it for a good cause – a charity auction.
Early on Justin Bieber threw all of his fans on a spin when he tweeted that he was thinking about getting a haircut.
On Monday afternoon, Justin Bieber appeared on TMZ Live with a new haircut which made him look a bit mature.
Bieber said he had the other style for the past 3-and-half-years and that he wanted to get rid of it as the hairs were irritating his eyes. He admits to being a bit nervous about the new style but after the cut was completed, he said he was happy with that new look.
It was his regular stylist, Vanessa, who did his haircut but reports have it that she is receiving mixed comments for the haircut where some people are praising her while others are cursing her for doing sloppy work on Bieber’s famous mane. Incidentally, she was also the one who crafted Bieber’s “signature” haircut in 2009.
Elizabeth Hurley, once declared to be possessing the most perfectly symmetrical face, is now drawing flak for the tongue-in-cheek lines she uttered for an advertisement for bikini wax.
Actually, it was an ad for Groupon, where Liz boldly declared she got 50% off the cost of her bikini wax. Seemingly harmless, right?
Well, what really caused the Twitter brouhaha is other line in the advertisement wherein Liz proudly announced that “not all deforestation is bad!” …before revealing that she saved 50% on her Brazilian wax because of a Groupon discount.
This had viewers and Twitter fanatics lashing out at Elizabeth Hurley for mocking environmental issues in her newest commercial.
Angry viewers and Twitter posters claim Hurley’s clip (and quip?) makes light of serious environmental matters.
Seriously people… can’t you recognize a figure of speech even if it hits you right smack on the face? Clearly, the ad had nothing to do with environmental concerns, and the word “deforestation” as used by Hurley in the clip was not referring to forests or trees in the same manner that “deflowering” is in no way referring to cut-flowers. Would you rather have her say, “not all hair removal is bad”? Where is the artistic punch in that?
This is very ironic, Miley Cyrus being given an award for being a positive influence to young people?
If I remember right, it was just a few days ago when I caught a distraught Billy Ray Cyrus talking about his daughter being “train wreck”, even likening her would-be fate to that of Anna Nicole Smith if she continues her downward spiral.
Apparently, Billy Ray has cause to be concerned. In a short span of time Miley has managed to figure in one controversy after another, the most recent of which was being caught smoking a bong (I’m not a big Miley Cyrus fan, so I hope this is indeed her latest scandal).
True to form, Miley has been named as the worst celebrity influence for the past two consecutive years. But this year she was given the first-ever Global Action Youth Leadership Award for the positive impact she has on young people’s attitudes by Hilary Duff herself.
Obviously elated, Miley was quoted as saying, “I got to tell you that I never thought I would get an award from Hilary Duff. This is like a dream come true to me. She inspired me.
She went on to say, “I want kids to do something they love. Not something that seems like a chore because someone tells them that’s the right thing to do or what their parents want or what’s important to people around them, but what’s in their heart.”
While the Hannah Montana star admits she is happy to be seen as a role model for younger girls, she doesn’t want her fans to idolise her. (Oh, I really hope they don’t)
Christina Aguilera’s rendition of Ameirca’s National Anthem has been buzzing around the social networking sites lately as she delivered it with wrong lyrics at the opening ceremony of the recently concluded Super Bowl XLV. There has been a lot of uploaded videos in the video sharing site Youtube. She also got a lot of critics from fellow Americans especially from those most patriotic one. It is part of being a true-blooded American to know the accurate lyrics of The Star Spangled Banner. it is not cleared yet if Aguilera committed a plain mistake or she intently changed the lyrics.
Here is the first two paragraphs of The Star Spangled Banner with Aguilera’s wrongly sang part:
Oh, say! can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming;
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
Aguillera’s “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming”
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there:
Oh, say! does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
