The very exciting battle among the celebrities in “Dancing With the Stars” is almost coming to an end. First, top-heavy actress and model Pamela Anderson exited the ballroom competition. And now this week, it was comedian and all-around joy Niecy Nash’s turn to go.
Nash, the bubbly host of reality show “How Clean is Your House” and an actress on “Reno 911!,” was joined in the bottom two by NFL footballer Chad Ochocinco after a grueling week in which the routines were upped to two apiece.
Niecy Nash may not have been the best dancer of this season of Dancing With the Stars, but she certainly was the best in just about every other way: class, humor, humility, style, grace.
She showed all of those in accepting her elimination Tuesday night, leaving Evan Lysacek, Nicole Scherzinger, Erin Andrews and Chad Ochocinco as the final four for next week’s semi-finals.
Her Viennese waltz with professional dance partner Louis van Amstel had pleased the audience but fails to impress the judges. Judge Bruno Tonioli told her that she was “swinging and looked like she was being chased by a swarm of wasps.”
Not surprisingly, Niecy gave the best farewell speech in the show’s history, as funny, sweet and genuine as the scrapbook of clips of her (and partner Louie Van Amstel) throughout the season.
“I’ve had such a fantastic time being able to live out my dream.” Speaking to partner van Amstel she said “Thank you for moulding this lump of clay into something.”
Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger remains the favourite to win the contest.
