The Cleveland Cavaliers avenged their 55-point loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in January with a 104-99 win on Wednesday night. The two-time defending NBA champ Lakers lost three straight games heading into the All-Star break.
Ramon Sessions came off the bench and scored a game-high 32 points with eight assists. Antawn Jamison had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in almost 42 minutes of action. JJ Hickson also had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Anthony Parker scored 18 points and issued 9 assists while Christian Eyenga had 10 points.
Defensive lapses and errant passes may have cost the Lakers to lose to the Cavs who have been 3-27 since late November. Coming off a loss to the Orlando Magic may not be enough reason to worry but losses to lowly teams like the Charlotte Bobcats and Cleveland Cavaliers should get the defending champions concerned at this point.
Pau Gasol had 30 points and 20 rebounds, hitting 14 of 14 free throws in a losing effort. Derek Fisher scored 19 points while Shannon Brown had 15 points off the bench. Kobe Bryant went 8 of 24 from the field for 17 points and 12 rebounds.
