The Ultimate Fighting Championship event on Saturday called UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort features current UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort in the main event of the evening. Silva defends his title against fellow Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter Belfort who was one of the feared young fighters at 19 years old.
The Silva-Belfort match took years to happen. UFC initially planned their title fight more than a year ago but injuries prevented them from facing off in the octagon. This time, both fighters are healthy and ready to give fight fans another exciting MMA matchup. Silva and Belfort both have the hand speed and knockout power. They both would rather engage from a distance than keeping the fight on the ground. Expect a knockout to happen in this title fight.
The co-main event also features former UFC champions. Forrest Griffin is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion while Rich Franklin is a former UFC Middleweight Champion who was beaten twice by Silva. Win or lose, both fighters remain bankable UFC stars.
Joining Silva, Belfort, Franklin and Griffin are other promising UFC fighters. Most notable would be Jon Jones and Ryan Bader, two undefeated Light Heavyweight MMA fighters who could challenge for the belt in a year or two.
Watch UFC 126 on Facebook, Spike TV and pay-per-view on Saturday.
