2010 Nashville Marathon Results: Country Music Marathon List of Winners
The Country Music Marathon takes place in Nashville, Tennessee that’s why it is also called Nashville Marathon. The route of the marathon begins in Centennial Park and continues along many of Nashville’s sights including music row, Belmont University, the State Capitol Building, the Cumberland River, Shelby Park, Shelby Bottoms Greenway, and ends outside LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans. As the runners pass the road, there are cheerleaders and entertainers cheering for their families an friends who joined. The marathon is a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon.
This year, William Naranjo of Columbia bagged the $25,000 price for finishing the race in just over two hours and 15 minutes (2:15:39), the fastest among the rest. He passed the finish line tape held by Ryan Hall, Olympic athlete, and Ed Temple, extraordinary track star and legendary coach. Two of his countrymen followed him shortly giving Columbia three of the Top 5 finishing times. Juan Carlos Cardona for the second place and Jason Gutierrez on the fifth.
For the women, Ilsa Paulson, of New York crossed the finish line first in just over two hours and 33 minutes. For the wheelchair division, Brad Ray of Colorado made it.
For the half marathon, Josh Cox of California won the men’s division with a time of 1:06:47, while Sharon Thompson of Franklin won the women’s division in 1:16:12.
Earlier before the race, there has been a tornado watch issued in Nashville resulting to diversion of slower runners to the half marathon course. The LP Field, home to the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, has also been opened up by officials for runners to take shelter once thunderstorms moved into town.
