“Psychic Octopus” Paul Sets To Retire After World Cup 2010 Success – An Octopus with psychic powers is to retire from making predictions following his World Cup success. The two-year-old cephalopod has become an international celebrity.
The octopus is named Paul and it is from Sea Life Aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen. It has so far correctly forecast the outcomes of all seven of Germany’s games and the most special is the final game between Spain and the Netherlands.
A reward was also given to Paul with his very own replica World Cup trophy garnished with his favorite food-mussels.
A spokeswoman of the Sea Life Aquarium said that despite the offers that they receive, Paul will step back from the official oracle business and he won’t give any more oracle predictions either in football or in politics, lifestyle or economy. Paul will get back to his former job which is making children laugh.
